Narrated by Imam Ali Zayn al-Abidin

1

allāhumma ṣalli ‘alā muḥammadin wa ālih

O God, bless Muhammad and his Household

2

wa hab liya al-‘āfiyata min daynin tukhliqu bihī wajhī,

and grant me well-being from a debt by which my face is worn out,

3

wa yaḥāru fīhi dhihnī, wa yatasha‘‘abu lahū fikrī,

and my mind is confused therein, and my thought is scattered for it,

4

wa yaṭūlu bi-mumārasatihī shughlī,

and my preoccupation with practicing it is prolonged.

5

wa a‘ūdhu bika yā rabbi min hammi ad-dayn wa fikrih,

And I seek refuge in You, O Lord, from the worry of debt and its contemplation,

6

wa shughli ad-dayn wa saharih.

and the preoccupation of debt and its sleeplessness.

7

fa-ṣalli ‘alā muḥammadin wa ālihī wa a‘idhnī minh.

So bless Muhammad and his Household, and protect me from it.

8

wa astajīru bika yā rabbi min dhillatihī fī al-ḥayāh

And I seek Your aid, O Lord, from its humiliation in life

9

wa min tabi‘atihī ba‘da al-wafāh.

and from its consequence after death.

10

fa-ṣalli ‘alā muḥammadin wa ālihī wa ajirnī minh

So bless Muhammad and his Household, and shelter me from it

11

bi-wus‘in fāḍilin aw kafāfin wāṣil.

with an overflowing sufficiency or an adequate subsistence that reaches.

O God, bless Muhammad and his Household

13

waḥjubnī ‘ani as-saraf wa al-izdiyād,

and veil me from extravagance and increase,

14

wa qawwimnī bi-al-badhl wa al-iqtiṣād,

and make me upright with generosity and moderation,

15

wa ‘allimnī ḥusna at-taqdīr,

and teach me good estimation,

16

waqbiḍnī bi-luṭfika ‘ani at-tabdhīr

and restrain me with Your kindness from wastefulness,

17

wa ajri min asbābi al-ḥalāl arzāqī,

and let my provisions flow from lawful means,

18

wa wajjih fī abwābi al-birr infāqī,

and direct my spending in the ways of devotion,

19

wa izwi ‘annī mina al-māl mā yuḥdithu lī makhīlah

and ward off from me of wealth whatever might generate vanity for me,

20

aw ta’addiyan ilā baghy, aw mā ata‘aqqabu minhu ṭughyānā.

or lead to transgression, or whatever I might inherit from it of tyranny.

21

allāhumma ḥabbib ilayya ṣuḥbata al-fuqarā’,

O God, make the company of the poor beloved to me,

22

wa a‘innī ‘alā ṣuḥbatihīm bi-ḥusni aṣ-ṣabr,

and help me to keep their company with excellent patience,

23

wa mā zawayta ‘annī min matā‘i ad-dunyā al-fāniyah

and what You have withheld from me of the enjoyment of this fleeting world,

24

fadhkhurhu lī fī khazā’inika al-bāqiyah,

then store it for me in Your everlasting treasuries,

25

wa ij‘al mā khawwaltanī min ḥuṭāmihā,

and make what You have granted me of its fragments,

26

wa ‘ajjalta lī min matā‘ihā bulghatan ilā jiwārik,

and hastened to me of its enjoyment, a means to reach Your proximity,

27

wa wuṣlatan ilā qurbik, wa dharī‘atan ilā jannatik

and a connection to Your nearness, and a way to Your Paradise,

28

innaka dhū al-faḍli al-‘aẓīm,

Surely You are the Possessor of the immense Favor,

29

wa anta al-jawādu al-karīm.

and You are the Munificent, the Generous.
